Webasto Expands TurboConnectTM EVSE

Webasto Charging Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of the Webasto Group, has announced the wider availability of the TurboConnect charger from early 2024.
Initially launched for high-volume customers in March 2023, the TurboConnect charger will soon be available to a wider audience. The company also plans to introduce two new products – the Turbo DX 2 Charging Station and the Webasto Go Gen 2 High-Power Cordset, both expected to be available later in 2024.
The TurboConnect charging station, suitable for both private and commercial use, offers advanced Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet connectivity, meeting stringent cybersecurity standards. It has a power output of 11.5kW (48A), adding approximately 44 miles of range per hour. The station connects to the Webasto ChargeConnect Web Portal and App, offering reservation and QR code functionality, and integrates with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

The Turbo DX 2 Charging Station is a Level 2 charger with a power output of 7.7kW, offering a plug-in or hardwired option and adding up to 30 miles of range per hour. It is encased in a rugged aluminum housing with advanced safety measures. The Turbo DX 2 integrates with Smart Home Applications and is supported by the Webasto ChargeConnect platform.
The Webasto Go Gen 2 High-Power is a portable Level 2 EV charger with safety features and supports a maximum charging power of up to 9.6kW (40A) at 240V, adding up to 37.5 miles of range per hour. Michael Schoenberger, VP of Research & Development of Webasto Charging Systems, said, “Its compact and lightweight design, combined with high-power capabilities, caters to the diverse needs of electric vehicle owners, truly embodying the future of portable EV charging solutions, both at home and on the go.”
The Gen 2 Cordset will be available to high-volume customers in 2024, offering white labeling options and customization according to specific requirements. All Webasto Charging Systems products are certified by recognized bodies and Energy-Star rated for sustainability. They support either the SAE J1772 or NACS coupler standard.
