WAE Technologies unveils Hydrogen Fuel Cell powertrain platform

WAE Technologies has launched its latest hydrogen fuel cell EV powertrain, the EVRh.
The company hopes to showcase the potential of hydrogen hybrid powertrain systems with the EVRh, a parallel-hybrid derivative of WAE’s EVR rolling chassis concept. The EVRh platform offers a complete turnkey solution for both start-ups and OEMs, reducing development costs and time to market while providing maximum design flexibility and zero tailpipe emissions.
It features a battery pack capable of discharging 430kW of power. When combined with the platform’s 120kW hydrogen fuel cell, the total vehicle output is 550kW. This allows for a 0-100km/h acceleration in less than 2.5 seconds and a vehicle mass of less than 1900kg. The EVRh platform boasts a range of 600km.
Its design includes a lightweight composite structure with a high-performance hydrogen fuel tank and battery system located in the middle of the vehicle for optimal center of gravity. The platform’s design flexibility allows manufacturers to create multiple configurations, from track-only vehicles to road-going models of both open-roof Targa and fixed-roof GT style. The platform supports both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive layouts through multiple e-motor configurations.
The hydrogen hybrid powertrain offers multiple benefits to manufacturers, including an accelerated route to market with all engineering and assembly completed by WAE.
Paul McNamara, Technical Director for WAE Technologies, said: “Since its inception in 2010, WAE has been dedicated to innovating transformative technologies across a variety of applications and industries. EVRh, on display at CENEX LCV for the first time, is another key example of WAE’s capabilities in the development of solutions for zero carbon vehicles, enabling state-of-the-art FCEV vehicles to be brought to market rapidly and cost-effectively.”
