Telefónica and Siemens digitalize Basquevolt ́s solid-state battery cell prototyping plant

Telefónica, a telecommunications company, and Siemens have partnered to establish a prototyping line that integrates various digitalization processes for the production of solid-state lithium batteries at Basquevolt’s plants.
The project will utilize Telefónica’s advanced services to provide the necessary connectivity, equipment, professional services, and cybersecurity in the IT and OT fields for Basquevolt’s prototype-scale manufacturing plant. The prototyping line will feature a robust industrial connectivity network that meets all communication requirements of the machines involved in the production process and the plant’s operational systems. This network will comply with industrial standards ISA/IEC 62443 and ANSI/ISA-95, using Siemens communication equipment from the Scalance family.
The teams from Telefónica, Siemens, and Basquevolt have been working together to develop a solution that will reliably operate Basquevolt’s manufacturing processes and ensure cell production. Cybersecurity measures have been a crucial aspect of the plant’s digitalization solutions design. Through Telefónica Tech, a range of solutions have been implemented to protect the industrial perimeter, segment and restrict unwanted traffic, and detect and respond to threats that could affect Basquevolt’s end devices. The initial results of this strategic project are anticipated in the first four months of 2024.
