Tau Group Secures Multi-Year Supply Contract with Volvo Cars for BEV Platform

Tau Group, a high-performance magnet wire manufacturer, has secured a multi-year magnet wire supply contract with Volvo Cars for their upcoming BEV platform.

Tau Group has raised over 24 million euros so far, promising 80% less scrap with their coating process. They mention their technology can help halve the size of an electric motor using their “high-performance magnet wire, typically rectangular, coated with PFA, PEEK, FEP or a combination. Superior dielectric and thermal properties for the use of higher frequency and higher voltage for automotive powertrain.”.

Tau Group’s patented technologies aim to balance sustainable, resource-minimizing manufacturing with the power, reliability, and performance required for electrification. This enables the production of smaller, greener, longer-lasting, and more powerful motors, transformers, and generators. The company specializes in carbon-conscious protective coatings for high-performance and standard copper, aluminium, and steel wires.
