SUBARU and AISIN to jointly develop EV eAxles

Subaru Corporation and Aisin Corporation, an automotive parts supplier, have announced a joint venture to develop and produce eAxles for use in Subaru’s battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
The production of these vehicles is set to commence in the latter half of the 2020s, and the companies aim to leverage their combined expertise in vehicle and transmission development to create eAxles that are efficient, lightweight, and compact, while also considering the various environments in which customers will use their vehicles.
Subaru has established a roadmap towards 2050 with the aim of contributing to a carbon-neutral society and is accelerating initiatives such as electrification. Similarly, Aisin is working towards realizing a carbon-neutral society by advancing initiatives in terms of “production” and “products”. The company is also accelerating the development of the eAxle, which is considered a top-priority product, by pursuing higher efficiency and downsizing.
