PowerGo launching solar-powered fast chargers at PLUS supermarkets in the Netherlands

PowerGo is installing fast chargers at PLUS supermarkets across the Netherlands.

The chargers, ranging from 50 to 320 kilowatts (kW), are designed to fully charge an EV during a typical supermarket visit. PowerGo tailors each charging solution to the specific location, taking into account factors such as customer parking behavior, space, and environment.

In areas with grid congestion, PowerGo is installing charging stations with integrated battery systems. These stations store energy for later use, relieving the electricity grid during peak times and ensuring charging availability at other times. PowerGo is also installing fast charging stations equipped with touchscreen screens, providing customers with easy access to charging and payment information.

PowerGo is introducing dynamic pricing, offering customers fair and transparent charging prices based on the hourly electricity price. This approach encourages customers to charge their EVs when more and cleaner energy is available, and charging is cheaper. The PowerGo Charge app provides users with access to these dynamic prices.

The first fast chargers are being installed at approximately 20 PLUS supermarkets throughout the Netherlands. The first location will be PLUS in Klazienaveen, where PowerGo is installing a 320 kW fast charger with a battery system. Customers will be able to charge their cars here before the summer. More locations are being explored, and PLUS entrepreneurs are also being invited to join the partnership.
