Phoenix Motorcars completes purchase of Proterra’s transit business

Phoenix Motor Inc. has announced the completion of its acquisition of the Proterra Transit business line from Proterra Inc. and Proterra Operating Company, Inc.
This acquisition, approved by the U.S. bankruptcy court earlier this week, will expand Phoenix’s product line to include heavy-duty transit buses, in addition to its existing medium-duty shuttle and school buses.
Phoenix Motor Inc. designs, builds, and integrates electric drive systems and light and medium-duty electric vehicles (EVs). It also sells electric forklifts and EV chargers for commercial and residential markets. The company operates two primary brands: Phoenix Motorcars, which focuses on commercial products including medium-duty EVs, EV chargers, and electric forklifts, and EdisonFuture, which plans to offer light-duty EVs.
The acquisition of Proterra Transit, a business known for its innovation in commercial vehicle electrification technology, is expected to provide Phoenix with growth opportunities as it adds transit buses to its product offering. Phoenix also plans to service Proterra Transit’s existing customers and develop long-term relationships with them.
