PDF Solutions and Voltaiq collaborate on Intelligent Battery Manufacturing

PDF Solutions, a provider of cloud analytics platforms, and Voltaiq, a company specializing in Enterprise Battery Intelligence software, have announced a collaboration aimed at assisting battery manufacturers in improving yield, reducing cost, and accelerating new factory ramp-ups.

This partnership leverages PDF Solutions’ expertise in the analysis and control of semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, and Voltaiq’s proficiency in managing large-scale data from the full battery product lifecycle to optimize every aspect of battery development and production.

The battery industry is striving to expand manufacturing capacity in response to the rapid growth of the EV industry, which is surpassing market expectations. The battery cell supply shortage already impacts all battery end-consumers, including consumer electronics, EVs, and grid storage manufacturers. To address this, companies across the battery ecosystem are constructing new factories, which come with challenges such as long yield ramp times, supply chain immaturity, and a shortage of relevant expertise.

This partnership plans to enable customers to fully characterize battery quality earlier in the production process and link those characteristics to key manufacturing parameters for control and improvement. The combined artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities from both companies provide manufacturing and battery characterization analytics to accelerate production ramps and improve overall yield and mass production efficiency.
