New e-truck charging hub in the Port of Rotterdam

VARO recently partnered with Truckparkings Rotterdam, a provider of secured truck parking, to launch an e-charging hub at Antonie Bodaanweg (Waalhaven) within the Port of Rotterdam.
This hub, inaugurated on January 26, 2024, is the first of its kind in the heart of logistic Rotterdam and Europe’s largest port.
The e-charging hub is a significant part of VARO’s e-Mobility business, offering a 24/7 charging solution for all battery-electric heavy-duty trucks and coaches. This service is enabled through the software of Road, a European e-Mobility company in which VARO holds the majority stake.
The road transportation sector accounts for one-fifth of the EU’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The International Energy Agency (IEA) states that to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, CO2 emissions from the transport sector must decrease by more than 3% per year until 2030. Commercial fleets, traditionally powered by conventional fuels, are a significant part of this sector.
