Infineon Technologies and Neutron Controls launch new ECU platform to accelerate BMS development

Neutron Controls, a preferred design house for Infineon, has introduced the ECU8 (energy control unit). This platform expedites the creation of advanced BMS using Infineon chipsets, providing a comprehensive hardware and software solution for a battery management unit grounded on an ASIL-D, ISO26262 foundation.

The ECU8 energy control unit integrates Neutron Control’s proprietary microcontroller module, featuring the AURIX TC3xx and TC4xx, TLF35584 Hypersonic PMIC, TLE9015 ISO UART Transceiver, and TLE9012 ISO UART Battery Interface Card.

The ECU8 platform is capable of monitoring up to 12 cells individually per module, by combining up to 20 modules the platform can support up to 1000V batteries. The ECU8’s communication interfaces include iso-UART and iso-SPI for Ring Mode, dual Ethernet ports, and triple CAN-FD ports. It also includes high-side and low-side drivers for external contactors. Low-level drivers are implemented for the various components for the AURIX TC3x TriCore architecture. Moreover, calculations for state-of-charge (SoC) and state-of-health (SoH) can be integrated.
