Navitas GaNSafeTM: World’s Most Protected GaN Power Semiconductor Opens Multi-Billion Dollar Data Center, Solar and EV Opportunities | Navitas

Navitas Semiconductor announced the launch of its GaNSafe platform, an innovation in gallium nitride technology. GaNSafe is a high-performance wide bandgap power platform designed for high-power applications where efficiency, power density, and reliable operation are essential.
The GaNSafe launch took place at a special event in Taiwan attended by over 50 VIP customers, industry partners, and international media. The event featured presentations by Navitas’ David Carroll, Sr. VP Worldwide Sales, and Charles Bailley, Sr. Director Business Development.
The GaNSafe platform builds on the success of Navitas’ GaNFast power ICs which have shipped over 100 million units. GaNFast ICs integrate GaN power and drive with control, sensing, and protection features. The GaNSafe platform enhances this with additional protection features and high-power packaging designed to withstand tough operating conditions.
The initial GaNSafe portfolio offers a range of RDS(ON) from 35 to 98 mΩ in a robust TOLL package for applications from 1,000 to 22,000 W. Integrated features include protected gate-drive control for reliable high-speed switching capability, fast short-circuit protection, electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, and continuous voltage capability of 650 V with transient capacity up to 800 V.
Navitas also provides market-specific system design centers that offer complete platform designs using GaNSafe products. These include Navitas’ CRPS185 data center power platform and a 6.6 kW bi-directional EV on-board charger with 3 kW DC-DC.
Gene Sheridan, CEO and co-founder, said, “Our original GaNFast and GaNSense technologies have set the industry standard for mobile charging. GaNSafe takes our technology to the next level as the most protected, reliable and safe GaN devices in the industry. Customers can now achieve the full potential of GaN in multi-billion dollar markets demanding the highest efficiency, density and reliability.”
The GaNSafe portfolio is immediately available to qualified customers, with mass production planned for Q4 2023.
The launch of GaNSafe will have a significant impact on the EV industry by providing more efficient, reliable, and robust power solutions. This advancement in GaN technology can enable EVs to operate more efficiently and reliably under demanding conditions.
