Littelfuse’s new EV battery overtemperature sensor tape

Littelfuse, Inc. has introduced TTape, a sensor tape that detects the overtemperature of individual battery cells. Localized cell detection allows for faster alerts to the BMS versus NTCs.

TTape manages premature cell aging, extends battery pack life, offers multi-cell monitoring, ultra-fast response, and seamless integration. The platform does not require calibration and can easily integrate with existing Battery Management Systems (BMS).

The thin design of TTape makes it ideal for conformal installations. With a single Microcontroller Unit (MCU) input, TTape’s distributed temperature monitoring capability significantly improves the detection of localized cell overheating. This feature allows for efficient cooling measures, prolongs battery life, and enhances the safety standards of battery installations.

The TTape Distributed Temperature Monitoring Platform is available in tape and reel or box packaging, depending on the length required.

“The TTape Platform is a distributed temperature monitoring device for battery packs that helps to improve the detection of localized cell overheating. With no calibration or temperature lookup tables required, and only one MCU input needed, it integrates seamlessly with current BMS solutions alongside NTCs, delivering an enhanced detection of cell overheating.” said Tong Kiang Poo, Global Product Manager at Littelfuse.
