Lilium and Atlantic Aviation readying US airports for eVTOL traffic

eVTOL maker Lilium has announced that it is partnering with fixed-base operator (FBO) Atlantic Aviation to prepare airports for the upcoming eVTOL wave in the USA.

(For our vehicle engineering readers, an FBO is a company with rights to operate at an airport alongside commercial airlines). Atlantic has over 100 FBO sites, and 30 of them are at airport locations within Lilium’s planned launch markets in Florida, Southern California, the Northeast corridor, and Texas.

The companies will work on infrastructure deployment and operations revolving around key factors such as aircraft flight paths, charging capabilities, passenger facilities, operations forecasting, and more. This comprehensive approach will provide Lilium Jet operators with access to strategic points within Atlantic’s network of aviation facilities, aiming to optimize the passenger experience and introduce a new era of air travel.

Lilium’s commercialization approach focuses on manufacturing and selling the Lilium Jet to various individuals and companies for private, premium, and shuttle operations. It then provides aftermarket support and services. This strategy is based on the readiness of aviation facilities for the Lilium Jet, highlighting the importance of the partnership with Atlantic.

The collaboration with Atlantic is expected to facilitate a smooth entry into service of the Lilium Jet, introducing a new era of regional air transportation that connects travelers from city to city and saves passengers hours in travel time.
