Kubota Invests in XING Technology, a pioneer in Immersion Cooled Batteries

Kubota Corporation announced its investment in XING Technology Inc., the parent company of XING Mobility Inc., a Taiwanese start-up specializing in battery systems crucial for enhancing the performance of electric products, including electric vehicles (EVs).
To electrify tractors and small construction machinery, it requires a specialized battery system to withstand high-power operation in demanding environments such as farmland and construction sites.
Kubota hopes to use these recent breakthroughs from XING in their electric construction equipment:1\. A set of battery, software, cooling mechanism, etc. packed in a single unit2\. A technology to directly cool battery cells by immersing them in a coolant (oil). By cooling battery cells reliably and uniformly, immersion cooling technology can extend battery life compared to general air-cooled methods. In addition, it can prevent fire from spreading in the event of ignition.
XING has shown its ability to convert battery cells of various shapes and types into battery systems, with a particular focus on temperature control to enhance battery performance. They also offer essential cooling technology to combat age-related deterioration. Their battery systems have been utilized in diverse sectors, including trucks, mining machinery, and energy storage systems.
The ultimate goal is to achieve carbon neutrality in the industrial machinery field through electrification, with a view to developing and marketing battery systems that address the challenges faced by many industrial machinery manufacturers in the future.
