Kubota Introduces Electric Mini Excavator in Europe

Kubota Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer of construction equipment, has announced the upcoming launch of its KX038-4e electric mini excavator in the European market in spring 2024. This addition to Kubota’s lineup of mini excavators, which are commonly used in urban construction work, is part of the company’s efforts to contribute to carbon neutrality in the construction industry.

The company is focusing on the development of electric, hybrid, and fuel-cell drives to reduce CO2 emissions from its products, and this is their first electric mini excavator.

One of the challenges in developing electric construction equipment is ensuring sufficient operating time. The KX038-4e addresses this issue with an eco-mode that adjusts motor speed and other energy-saving features, enabling four hours of continuous operation. This allows for a full day’s construction work, such as laying pipes in urban areas, without the need for mid-day battery recharging.

The KX038-4e will be available to end users on a rental basis through local distributors. This approach will allow Kubota to continue expanding its line of environmentally friendly products while gaining insights into the challenges users face when operating these products.

“Europe is on the forefront of environmental responsibility, and a growing need for products with high environmental performance has become apparent. In response, Kubota decided to develop and market its first electric mini excavator, the KX038-4e,” said Yuichi Kitao, president and representative director of Kubota Corporation.
