Kalmar starts electric reach stacker and Essential Forklift truck production in Shanghai

Cargotec Corporation, a provider of cargo handling solutions, announced that its subsidiary, Kalmar, will commence production of its electric reachstacker and Essential forklift truck range at the company’s Shanghai manufacturing plant. The production launch was marked with an ‘Electrify & Expand’ event on 6th December, attended by customers and dealer representatives.

The Shanghai plant, operational since 2005, manufactures a broad range of cargo handling equipment, including reach stackers, empty container handlers, and terminal tractors. The plant is strategically located at the south-eastern tip of Shanghai, near one of the world’s busiest ports, and caters to customers in the Asia-Pacific, Africa, South America, Oceania, and Middle East regions.

The Kalmar electric reach stacker, capable of lifting up to 45 tons, enhances the eco-efficiency of cargo-handling operations while maintaining high levels of productivity and safety. It is available with a variety of modular battery options and charging solutions, making it suitable for diverse applications such as container handling, intermodal and trimodal operations, and industrial heavy lifting.

The Kalmar Essential forklift truck, designed for demanding applications, offers lifting capacities from 10 to 18 tonnes. It is ideal for handling containers, steel, and wood. The first machines manufactured at the Shanghai plant are scheduled for delivery to customers across the region.
