Idra will install two 9,000-ton giga presses for Volvo

Idra Srl, the company behind Tesla’s giga press, has secured a contract from Volvo Cars to install two 9,000 tons GigaPress machines at a new site in Košice, Slovakia. The GigaPress machines, among the largest die-casting machines in Europe, will be used to produce complex and lightweight vehicle components with precision and efficiency.

The installation of these machines at the greenfield site in Košice is expected to transform the automotive manufacturing industry and establish the new plant as a strategic hub for GigaCasting. The GigaCasting process is also known for its eco-friendly nature, reducing waste and energy consumption, aligning with Volvo Cars’ commitment to sustainable practices.
