Honda’s record 2023 EV sales with America’s top-selling hybrid-electric models

Honda reported record sales for its hybrid-electric vehicles in 2023, with the Honda CR-V hybrid and the Accord hybrid sedan leading the charts in the U.S.

The CR-V hybrid sold 197,317 units, making it the top-selling hybrid model, while the Accord hybrid sedan, with 96,323 units sold, was the most purchased hybrid-electric car. Together, these two models accounted for over a quarter of total Honda brand sales, with a combined total of 293,640 units sold.

In 2023, Honda’s electrified models saw a three-fold increase in sales, setting a new record. The cumulative sales of Honda’s electrified vehicles have now surpassed one million units. This year, Honda is set to launch the Honda Prologue, its first all-electric SUV.

Honda is working towards achieving carbon neutrality for all its products and corporate activities by 2050. As part of this vision, the company aims for battery-electric and fuel-cell electric vehicles to constitute 100% of its new vehicle sales by 2040.

Honda offers a wide range of vehicles, including the Civic and Accord, as well as the HR-V, CR-V, Passport, and Pilot sport utility vehicles, the Ridgeline pickup, and the Odyssey minivan. Its electrified vehicle lineup includes the Accord hybrid, CR-V hybrid, and the upcoming Civic hybrid. The Honda Prologue SUV, Honda’s first volume battery-electric vehicle, will also be added to the lineup this year.

Honda has been manufacturing automobiles in America for over 40 years and currently operates 18 major manufacturing facilities in North America. In 2022, more than 99% of all Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. were made in North America, with over two-thirds made in America, using both domestic and globally sourced parts.
