Goodyear unveils new EV tire

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has unveiled their new EV tire, the Goodyear® ElectricDrive 2. This all-season electric vehicle (EV) tire is part of the ElectricDrive family and is enhanced with sustainable materials, improved rolling resistance, and long-lasting tread life to optimize EV performance. The ElectricDrive 2 contains at least 50% sustainable materials per tire by weight.
Goodyear’s recent consumer EV research indicates that a quiet ride and wet road performance are the top two features EV owners consider when choosing a tire. The ElectricDrive 2 addresses these needs with its SoundComfort Technology®, a built-in sound barrier that reduces interior vehicle noise, and an asymmetric tread pattern that ensures confident handling in wet or dry road conditions.
The ElectricDrive 2 will be available in the U.S. from May 2024. It will come in 17 sizes designed to fit a range of consumer EV sedans and CUVs, including the Tesla Models Y, 3 and S, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevy Bolt, Audi Q4 e-tron, and others.
Key features and benefits of the ElectricDrive 2 include SoundComfort Technology® foam inserts that reduce interior vehicle sound, at least 50% sustainable materials in the tire’s construction, an asymmetric tread pattern optimized for improved grip and responsiveness on wet and dry roads, a long-lasting tread compound designed for resilience, and an aerodynamic sidewall and innovative compound that lowers aerodynamic drag and enables lower rolling resistance.
