Doosan Bobcat’s all-electric loader concept at CES 2024, the RogueX2

Doosan Bobcat has unveiled the RogueX2, an evolution of its RogueX concept loader. The RogueX2 is the second iteration from the first RogueX release in 2023.

Both the RogueX and RogueX2 are all-electric, autonomous concept machines that produce zero emissions. They feature a lithium-ion battery, electric drive system, and electric actuated lift and tilt kinematics with no hydraulics.

The RogueX and RogueX2 were developed to advance the Bobcat innovation roadmap, evaluate customer perceptions, and challenge traditional kinematics and machine functionality. These concept machines, designed and built without a cab, explore the potential design and optimization of future work machines for new technologies, enabling a new work experience.

The original RogueX was designed with tracks and uses advanced workgroup kinematics to offer unique functionality that combines vertical-path, radial-path, and variable-path lift capabilities in one machine. The RogueX2, on the other hand, was designed with wheels instead of tracks to optimize the electric battery run time. It also features axial flux motors, which give the machine additional tractive effort. It delivers greater power output for demanding applications like grading, digging, or powering attachments for heavy-duty work.

The RogueX and RogueX2 concept loaders have resulted in many new patents pending. However, these machines are currently in the research and development phase and are not commercially available.
