Cincinnati Sub-Zero providing environmental test solutions for BETA Technologies’ electric aircraft battery pack R&D
CSZ announced it will provide environmental test solutions for BETA Technologies’ electric aircraft battery pack prototypes.
To meet the testing requirements, CSZ has adapted two of its Welded Walk-In chambers, which replicate the conditions that the pack is likely to face throughout its operational life, including during take-off, flight, and landing. CSZ has also helped BETA carry out a thorough risk assessment, and develop a custom safety package to manage potential thermal runaway scenarios.
Features of the walk-in chambers:– Beacon tower light to indicate chamber status– Electrical door locks with safety interlock switches– Emergency stop push button– Fire suppression system– Gas measuring for H2, O2, and CO– Overpressure release via burst disc system– Explosion-resistant interior lighting– Explosion-resistant low-watt-density sheath heaters
