Certified Tool Chain for Validating Automotive Functions

– dSPACE becomes the first provider of an end-to-end certified tool chain for validating safety-critical automotive functions, with TÜV Süd’s ISO 26262 certification of ASM, AURELION, and ModelDesk.– The certification allows users to focus on vehicle function development and drive a SOTIF-compliant validation process more efficiently, potentially speeding up the overall homologation of a vehicle function.

dSPACE has achieved a first in the industry by securing TÜV Süd’s ISO 26262 certification for the entire Automotive Simulation Models (ASM) tool suite, AURELION 3D environment, and ModelDesk user interface. This makes it the first provider of a fully certified tool chain for validating safety-relevant automotive functions.

The certification builds on previous certifications of the VEOS integration platform and SIMPHERA validation framework by TÜV Süd. The result is a comprehensive suite that supports customers in getting driver assistance systems, autonomous driving technologies, and electromobility applications approved.

The fully certified environment allows for the development and approval of in-vehicle safety-related functions in compliance with ISO 26262:2018, covering all automotive safety integrity levels (ASIL). The tool chain encapsulates applications from creating intricate traffic scenarios with interactive editors and numerous automotive real-time and physics-based sensor models, through to integration tasks with virtual ECUs and complete verification and validation tasks.

Michael Peperhowe, Lead Product Manager Simulation and Validation at dSPACE stated that “Our goal is to provide our customers with the best possible and most comprehensive support for the approval of safety-relevant vehicle functions. The end-to-end ISO 26262 compliance of our tools relieves function managers of a great deal of work.”

The certification of ASM, AURELION, and ModelDesk empowers users to concentrate on developing vehicle functions and driving a SOTIF-compliant validation process more efficiently. The certified tools from dSPACE can be used unrestrictedly for qualified use cases in safety argumentation, potentially accelerating the overall homologation of a vehicle function.

This development will enhance efficiency in the validation process of electric vehicle functions, potentially accelerating their market readiness.
