Canoo announces class 2 electric cargo van

Canoo Technologies announced the launch of its new Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV) 190, expanding the company’s line-up into the Class 2 electric cargo van segment. The LDV 190 offers increased space and flexibility for fleet owners, while maintaining the technologically advanced performance of the original LDV 130, according to Tony Aquila, Chairman and CEO, Canoo.
The LDV 190 utilizes the same Multi-Purpose Platform (MPP) as the LDV 130, but features an enhanced suspension system to accommodate the increased payload of Class 2 vehicles. Despite its increased payload load capacity and body length, the LDV 190 maintains the wheelbase and low center of gravity of the LDV 130, ensuring predictable driving behavior at all speeds and maneuverability in urban areas.
The LDV 190 also introduces a patent-pending interchangeable rear cargo cartridge, offering customers the ability to switch between barn door, tambour door, and a split tailgate configuration that incorporates a loading ramp. The cargo area has been expanded to 172 cubic feet of space behind the standard bulkhead, with additional cargo room available in the front cabin on the optional single-seat version. The vehicle also features optional additional LED lighting, and a unique sliding cargo floor with a 1000-pound working capacity.
The LDV 190 fits between the LDV 130 and the forthcoming larger Canoo MPDV in terms of size and capability. Like all Canoo fleet vehicles, the LDV 190 offers enhanced safety, driver comfort, and maximum cargo density, while maintaining a small footprint and the longest EV range in the Class 2 segment.
Canoo is working towards achieving a production readiness level of 20,000 vehicles per year by the end of 2023. The company is currently building a vehicle assembly plant in Oklahoma City and a battery plant in Pryor, OK.
