Bourns Expands its Silicon Carbide Schottky Barrier Diode Product Family with 10 New Models

• Bourns, Inc. has expanded its Silicon Carbide Schottky Barrier Diode product family with 10 new models.• The new models are designed to meet increasing power density requirements in transportation, renewable energy and industrial systems.

Bourns, Inc., a prominent manufacturer of electronic components, announced the addition of 10 new models to its Silicon Carbide (SiC) Schottky Barrier Diode (SBD) product family. These models are designed to address the growing power density needs in transportation, renewable energy and industrial systems. The expanded line provides peak forward surge, low forward drop, reduced thermal resistance and low power loss capabilities—key for high frequency and high current applications. This allows for the development of smaller, cost-efficient and advanced power electronics.

The new models are optimal for DC-DC and AC-DC converters, Switched-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS), photovoltaic inverters, motor drives, and other rectification applications. They feature currents in the 5-10 A range and no reverse recovery current, reducing EMI. This improves energy losses reduction, efficiency, switching performance and reliability.

Bourns’ SiC SBD models offer excellent thermal performance and are available in multiple forward voltage, current and package options that include TO220-2, TO247-3, TO252, TO263 and TO247-2. They are RoHS compliant*, halogen free**, Pb free and their epoxy potting compound is flame retardant to the UL 94V-0 standard.

This expansion by Bourns will further the capabilities of electric vehicle electronics, contributing to advancements in efficiency and reliability.
