BMW Partners With Shell Recharge Solutions to Ease Public EV Charging

BMW, has partnered with Shell Recharge Solutions to streamline the process of charging electric vehicles (EVs). This collaboration integrates charger locations and information from several major charging networks into the My BMW App. The networks include Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, EVgo, EVConnect, and Blink.

This means that BMW drivers now have access to over 100,000 public chargers in the U.S. and Canada. The integration of more networks into the app not only makes it easier for BMW EV drivers to locate chargers, but also provides essential information such as pricing and charger availability. Given that EVs take significantly longer to charge than gas-powered vehicles, arriving at a station where all the plugs are occupied can result in a lengthy wait.

The app also simplifies the payment process. Many public EV chargers, for security reasons, do not have credit-card readers and only accept payment through their associated apps.
