Blue Bird and Generate Capital creating fleet electrification-as-a-service called “Clean Bus Solutions”
Blue Bird Corporation and Generate Capital have announced a joint venture named Clean Bus Solutions, LLC. This JV aims to meet the growing demand for electric school buses and promote the adoption of clean student transportation in North America.
Clean Bus Solutions will offer fleet electrification-as-a-service, simplifying the process for school districts to upgrade to advanced electric vehicles (EVs). The service includes electric school buses, charging infrastructure, financing, project planning and management, and fleet and charging optimization. This comprehensive solution will help school districts transition to electric fleets, providing new revenue and profit streams for Blue Bird and its dealers.
Generate’s expertise in Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions, established project developer network, and existing decarbonization contracts with school districts will complement Blue Bird’s electric school bus lineup. This partnership aims to reduce the eight million metric tons of emissions generated annually by diesel-powered school buses in the U.S.
Blue Bird recently opened its Electric Vehicle (EV) Build-up Center, a dedicated 40,000 sq.ft. facility, to increase its production of electric school buses. The company plans to produce up to 5,000 EVs annually in the coming years.
