Automotive Cells Company and Circulor are partnering on battery supply chain traceability

Automotive Cells Company (ACC), an EV battery manufacturer, and Circulor, a supply chain traceability provider, have announced a partnership to enhance the transparency of ACC’s battery cell supply chain. The collaboration aims to verify the origin, material journey, and embedded carbon emissions of the raw materials used in ACC’s battery cells.

The partnership will facilitate the collection of detailed production data and carbon emissions across ACC’s supply chains, expediting proof of responsible sourcing and compliance with global regulations. This will provide ACC with enhanced supply chain visibility, enabling the company to offer additional value to its customers as the battery industry works towards the creation of battery passports in line with the EU Battery Regulations.

The agreement encompasses supply chain mapping and material traceability, as well as embedded carbon emission and due diligence reporting, and battery passport creation via Circulor’s PROVE platform. These services will be implemented over an initial three-year period, covering all principal battery materials including lithium, graphite, cobalt, and nickel.

Circulor is also the technology leader for the German Government’s Battery Pass project, which outlines and demonstrates the requirements of the European Union’s newly enacted Battery Regulation. As part of this role, and with its in-house regulatory expertise, Circulor is involved in the secondary legislation phase and will update its Battery Passport as regulatory details are further defined.
